The Day After Today:
Artifacts of the Future
Speculative Design | Co-Design Workshop | Design Futures | Research
This project explores how cultural backgrounds and worldviews influence future visions, viewing artifacts not just as objects, but as carriers of meaning, mediators of relationships, and catalysts for reflection and societal critique.

Using Dator’s Futures framework, each participant reimagined their artifact within an assigned future scenario, visualizing its role through sketches. Despite shared artifacts and futures, the interpretations varied widely, highlighting diverse perspectives on how objects evolve over time.

The team led a speculative design workshop where participants chose an everyday object and explored its use, context, and personal significance. These are the prompt cards we designed for the workshop, and the drawings shown were the participants' responses.
